Welcome to Publishing Technology, a leading provider of technologies and supporting services for the publishing industry. We deliver software that powers both online and offline publishing processes, along with complementary sales and marketing services to drive revenue growth for our publisher clients.
We all operate in an increasingly digital world, and this presents publishers with a set of challenges to which they must rise if they are to remain competitive – not the least of which is ensuring that their online and offline publishing activities are efficiently integrated. It’s an uncomfortable reality that the imperative to keep pace with technological evolution is gradually disconnecting publishers’ sources of competitive advantage from their traditional competences.
Our vision is simply to partner with publishers of any size, discipline, or technical literacy, to enable them to leverage the full potential of their content and to optimise the opportunities of the digital world. Their future survival lies in outsourcing technical requirements to a trusted partner; our publisher clients benefit from our capabilities and experience while concentrating on the things they do best.
We are a business built on the expertise, dedication and innovation of our people. Publishing Technology was created in early 2007 following the merger of Ingenta, VISTA and PCG, and since then our 170 staff have played a critical role in fusing three diverse businesses; their enthusiasm is a key factor in our continued success. Most have been working in their respective sectors for many years, benefiting immeasurably from the first-hand experience they have gained as the publishing industry has evolved. I am always impressed by their intuitive understanding of our customers' needs and aspirations, and I enjoy witnessing the spirit of challenge and enthusiasm with which our teams approach problems. We’re all proud, for example, that our Ingenta division was last year ranked in the top 10 media companies by the UK government’s Research & Development scoreboard, which analyses investment in innovation by the UK’s top 800 companies.
This culture of continuous improvement and dynamic creativity has driven our selection by some of the world’s top publishers – from Harper Collins and Random House, Elsevier and Pearson, to the world’s three largest university presses (Oxford, Cambridge and Chicago) and major organisations such as the BBC, OECD, IMF and the World Bank. With the comprehensive range of technologies and services that our combined organisation can provide, we are looking forward to supporting the future success of these publishers – and more – and consolidating our position at the leading edge of publishing innovation.
